Dr. Zhang was raised in Changsha, China. She developed a love of animals at a young age and started volunteering in different animal shelters and wildlife conservation organizations when she was 16 years old. Dr. Zhang studied biology at the University of Prince Edward Island and pursued her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College on Prince Edward Island. She was making Dean’s list during her study, and also the recipient of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Award. Dr. Zhang’s clinical interests include anesthesia, dermatology, cardiology, neurology, shelter medicine and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, reading, and painting. She is also an adventurous person who loves scuba diving, paragliding, and travelling. She has many pets at home, including a dog (Bubu), a cat (Blueblue), a crested gecko (Little Anise), a bearded dragon (PuPu), and a veiled chameleon (Han Han).
